  • Discovering immortelle, the emblematic flower of Corsica

Immortelle, the sun-kissed flower at the heart of Mediterranean landscapes

A small golden flower with a unique fragrance, immortelle has fascinated for centuries thanks to its history, its character, and its deep connection with the landscapes of the South. Wild and resilient, it grows where the sun shines intensely, on lands bathed in light and caressed by sea breezes. This emblematic Mediterranean flower has now become a precious ingredient in perfumery, appreciated for its warm, green and slightly honeyed facets.

A symbol of eternal memories, immortelle has a truly unique olfactory identity. It instantly evokes summer walks, wild trails and preserved landscapes where aromatic herbs blend with sun-warmed dried flowers. A true invitation to travel, captured by perfumers in creations that tell a story.

A wild flower in the colors of the sun

Immortelle, also known as helichrysum, is a plant instantly recognizable thanks to its small yellow flowers that retain their brilliance for a long time. Its name actually comes from this unique characteristic: even once picked and dried, its flowers keep their color and shape for an extended period.

This resilience has made it a symbol of eternity. In Greek mythology, immortelle flowers were used to adorn statues of the gods, representing beauty that transcends time. Over generations, this small wild flower has become an emblem of Mediterranean landscapes.

Immortelle mainly grows in dry, sun-drenched environments. It thrives in poor soils, rocky grounds and areas exposed to the wind. It naturally develops in places where few other plants can survive, drawing its strength from a demanding climate. This ability to withstand harsh conditions makes it even more exceptional.

Immortelle in perfumery: a unique olfactory signature

In perfumery, immortelle is a fascinating ingredient because it has a very distinctive personality. Its scent is warm, soft, green and enveloping all at once. It reveals slightly honeyed notes, sometimes reminiscent of sun-warmed golden straw, with deeper nuances evoking wild herbs.

This flower brings a solar and comforting feeling to compositions. It can add depth to a fragrance by creating a contrast between freshness and warmth. Combined with citrus notes, it reveals a bright and sparkling side. With woody or amber accords, it becomes more intense, mysterious and enveloping.

Immortelle is also appreciated for its ability to tell the story of a place. More than just a fragrance note, it transports you to a specific landscape, a season, a fleeting atmosphere. It evokes paths lined with wild vegetation, the warmth of the sun on the skin and those suspended moments we wish could last forever.

Thanks to its sunny scent, honeyed notes and Mediterranean character, immortelle has become a true signature in the world of niche perfumery. It embodies a wild, timeless and natural beauty, capable of transforming a fragrance into a genuine olfactory memory.

An emblematic flower of Corsican landscapes

Among the places where immortelle flourishes, Corsica holds a special place. On this island of contrasting landscapes, wild vegetation creates a palette of rich and authentic scents.

At the heart of the Corsican maquis, immortelle grows alongside other aromatic plants such as thyme, wild mint and other Mediterranean essences. When the sun warms the vegetation, the air fills with an intense fragrance, a blend of flowers, dried herbs and fresh notes.

This unique atmosphere has inspired many artists and creators. Corsica offers a natural setting where every walk becomes a sensory experience. The scents of the maquis, the golden light and the strength of the landscapes create a truly unique olfactory signature.

Immortelle perfectly embodies this meeting between wild nature and Mediterranean elegance. It tells the story of a land bathed in sunlight, where vegetation finds its beauty in simplicity and authenticity.

A flower between tradition and modernity

Long used in Mediterranean traditions, immortelle continues to captivate today thanks to its timeless character. Contemporary perfumers love working with it to create original fragrances, capable of conveying emotion and memory.

This flower also reflects a new approach to perfumery: one that highlights ingredients with a story to tell. Each raw material becomes a journey, an encounter with a landscape and a way of discovering a new universe.

Immortelle does not simply bring a scent to a perfume. It brings an atmosphere, a sensation, a memory. It transforms a fragrance into a sensory escape.

Été Immortel, an escape into the heart of the Corsican maquis

At Poécile, this sun-kissed flower is at the heart of our latest creation: Été Immortel. Inspired by the landscapes of Corsica and the unique atmosphere of the summer maquis, this fragrance captures a moment suspended beneath the Mediterranean sun.

Immortelle appears as the heart note of this fragrance, bringing all its warmth and character. It blends with fresh and luminous notes of clementine and bergamot, before revealing a greener accord inspired by maquis herbs such as mint and thyme.

With Été Immortel, we wanted to recreate the feeling of a summer walk in Corsica, when the sun’s rays warm the landscape and wild scents drift through the air. An invitation to rediscover the softness of an endless summer, carried by the unique fragrance of immortelle.
