Where to wear perfume to fully reveal your scent

The best ways to enhance your fragrance, summer or winter

Do you love your perfume but feel like it doesn't last? Or maybe you're looking for a way to leave that little elegant trail as you pass by?

At Poécile, a French perfume designer proudly from the Auvergne region, we love these small, simple gestures that change everything. And because our narcissus fragrances, jasmine fragrances and unisex fragrances deserve to be worn to perfection, here are our tips for choosing the right fragrance.

1. Hot zones: revealing notes through pulse points

Let's start with the basics: fragrance unfolds best when applied to warm zones. These are often referred to as pulse points, the places where blood flows beneath the skin. Why is this? Because body heat diffuses fragrance notes more effectively.

Perfume must-haves:

- Neck and nape: perfect for close encounters.

- Behind the ears: the classic, discreet, effective gesture.

- Wrists: a spritz on the inside and a light tap (without rubbing, to avoid breaking the molecules).

- Elbows: under a piece of clothing or in short sleeves, ideal for boosting notes at the slightest movement.

- Behind the knees: secret tip for prolonging fragrance even in dresses or shorts.

These zones are ideal for sublimating delicate creations like Arcadie Florale, our jasmine fragrance, or Mont Cristal, elegant and unisex. These subtle accords come into their own on contact with the skin.

2. Hair and clothes: a fragrant cloud around you

Do you dream of leaving a fragrance in your wake? Scenting hair and clothes is the ultimate technique.

Why on hair?

Hair captures and releases scents better than skin. The result: with every movement, your fragrance is gently diffused. But beware: the alcohol in some fragrances can dry out the hair fiber. Ideally, use a scented hair mist or spray lightly on a brush before styling.

At Poécile, our Auvergne fragrances lend themselves perfectly to this use, such as Eden Volcanique, which reveals its floral facet as it moves.

What about clothing?

Clothes, scarves, jackets, collars retain fragrance for a long time. To avoid stains:

- Spray from a distance of 20-30 cm.

- Choose natural materials like cotton or wool.

- Test on a small, inconspicuous area first.

With this technique, even a narcissus perfume will unfold its floral accords for hours. Perfect if you like to smell your perfume without having to reapply it every two hours.

Little tip: in summer, perfume clothes rather than skin exposed to the sun, to avoid any risk of staining (especially with citrus essential oils, which are photosensitizing).

3. Adapt to the seasons and your own style

Knowing where to wear perfume also means adapting to the seasons. The same fragrance is not worn in the same way in summer and winter.

In summer

When the sun's shining, you've got to be clever:

- Avoid applying fragrance directly to exposed skin.

- Instead, apply to clothing and hair.

- Opt for light compositions, such as a discreet floral unisex fragrance.

In winter

When it's cold and your skin is covered, take the opportunity to scent the pulse points under your clothes. Body heat will gently release the fragrance, providing a comforting olfactory cocoon. It's also the perfect season to wear fragrances with woody or spicy notes.

Depending on your personality

- Minimalist: a discreet spritz behind the ear or on the hollow of the neck.

- Bold: add wrists + clothes + hair for a complete fragrance.

- Romantic: opt for floral notes like jasmine or narcissus, worn on the hollow of the neck.

Reveal your fragrance your way

At Poécile, we believe that perfume is a personal ritual, a way of asserting your personality, whether gently or boldly. Whether you choose an elegant French fragrance, or are seduced by the wild, vegetal world of our Auvergne perfumes, the secret lies in where to scent.
